Senator Ronnie Chance
District 16
Ronnie is a native Georgian and was first elected to the State Senate from Georgia's 16th District in 2004. He represents Lamar, Pike and parts of Fayette, Monroe and Spalding counties. He also serves as chairman of the Government Oversight Committee, secretary of the Finance Committee and is a member of the Higher Education and Economic Development committees. In 2006, Ronnie was appointed Senate Floor Leader by Governor Sonny Perdue.
Ronnie is a 2007 graduate of Leadership Georgia and was recently named to James Magazine’s list of Most Influential Georgians. He has been named Georgia EMS’s Legislator of the Year for 2008 and recently received the Pathfinder Award from the Georgia Brain and Spinal Injury Trust Fund Commission. In 2006, Ronnie was honored with the Champion of Georgia’s Cities Award by the Georgia Municipal Association.
Ronnie is the owner of a successful small business that specializes in marketing and public relations. His company has advised several Fortune 500 companies and numerous elected officials including United States Senators Bob Dole and Johnny Isakson, as well as, scores of other federal, state and local officials.
Growing up in South Fayette County, Ronnie attended Brooks Elementary School and graduated from Fayette County High School in 1986, where he was a three-year letterman in football and basketball. He remains active in the community, serving on the boards of the Flint River Council of the Boy Scouts of America, the Georgia State University Alumni Association, the Cochran Mill Nature Center, the Joseph Sams School and the Fayette County Chapter of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes. He has also served as Chairman of the 2008 Friends of Scouting campaign for the Flint River Council.
Ronnie is a graduate of Georgia State University’s Robinson College of Business where he earned a Bachelor of Business Administration degree in marketing. He is married to the former Cressida Stevens of Gloucestershire, England. The Chances have two daughters and are members of Peachtree City United Methodist Church. The family currently resides in Tyrone.
